This release brings support for dark mode and updates to DEVONagent Pro's windows to better fit the look of modern versions of macOS, with a more refined toolbar layout and many new icons throughout the interface. We fixed compatibility to macOS 27 Golden Gate and we also included some search syntax-related fixes, less aggressive downloading via the Download Manager, as well as better compatibility with Cloudflare.

The Download Manager's appearance also has a more contemporary look.
After downloading via Safari, the application could prompt to be moved to the Applications folder even if it was already installed there. It now quietly relaunches once from its current location. Also, if DEVONagent Pro is launched from the disk image, moving it to the Applications folder ejects the disk image automatically.
An optimization could crash the app in macOS 27 Golden Gate. Fixed.
Browser tabs showing remote images did not always display a thumbnail in the tab bar, showing the favicon instead. Fixed.
Dragging and dropping the favicon in the browser didn't work in macOS 27 Golden Gate. Fixed.
The progress indicator of the launch panel was not animated on macOS 26 Tahoe. Fixed.
A site's robots.txt file was ignored if several user agents were listed in one group. Fixed.
Searches beginning with NOT incorrectly counted the first term twice, inflating the item's ranking. Fixed.
Searches using the NOT AFTER operator didn't match documents whose search term was the last word of the text. Fixed.
Exact phrase searches, e.g., "a b c" could return similar but non-matching documents, e.g., one containing "a b b c". Also, if a document contained repeated words, e.g., the cat the cat the dog, a quoted search for "the cat the dog" didn't match that document. Fixed.
When browsing certain websites, too many items were automatically added to the Download Manager. Fixed.
The user agent of the built-in browser was incompatible with CloudFlare. Fixed.
We removed the Express and Lite editions.

This maintenance release includes many updates to plugins and search sets. These include several news outlets, e.g., Reuters, the PubMed site, the Latest Software search set, and even the plugin for our DEVONthink Server edition. Unfortunately, due to underlying changes on some sites, we had to remove some, notably Google-related ones. However, we now use multiple search engines for certain features, e.g., for the See Also inspector, to help ensure good results. Beyond that, we made many fixes and improvements to make our application more reliable and efficient.

When using a weekly interval in a scheduled search set, the message about the next run reported the day before the chosen day, e.g., showing "Tuesday" when "Wednesday" was chosen. Fixed.
If the Download Manager had automatic purging disabled, removing downloaded items would incorrectly remove the downloaded files too. Fixed.
The encoding parameter of the download markup from AppleScript command incorrectly listed ISO-Latin-1. The default is UTF-8. Fixed.
The registration panel didn't immediately report success or failure after the trial period expired. Fixed.
Due to the use of JavaScript to present search results and blocking third-party access, we removed: Google News, Google (PDF), Images & Video > Google Video and YouTube, Blogs > Google Blog Search, Patents > Google Patents, and US Patent Office.

This update tackles a major change by Google that was blocking access to its search results. We've also taken the opportunity to refresh the Yahoo! and Web plugins. Additionally, we've introduced a new plugin for the Brave Search engine and also included a few minor fixes and enhancements to improve your experience.

In this latest release, we've enhanced the filtering and parsing of search results, making it easier to find what you're looking for. We've also refined the user interface to provide a smoother experience and improved compatibility with the latest version of macOS, Sequoia. In addition, we've fixed a number of problems, including eliminating a bug that could cause crashes during searches. As always, we've worked hard to enhance the overall performance and reliability of the application.
When manually checking for updates, the alert shows a Release Notes button if no updates are available.

Today's release adds a new plugin for the Ecosia search engine. It also includes updates to some plugins, search sets, and scanners. For more focused search results with Google and Web plugins, DEVONagent Pro uses verbatim searches, and proximity searches, e.g., using the NEAR operator, produce better results. Also, audio and video files no longer play automatically, speeding up browsing your results, and importing from Safari now allows adding even larger histories. And we made several fixes and improvements for better performance and reliability.
The Web or Google-based plugins now use verbatim searches to provide more focused results.
Occurrences are more reliably matched and highlighted in the results of complex proximity queries.
Browsing search results is now faster as audio and video files will not automatically play when the page is loaded.
The text color has been changed to improve contrast, e.g., in the results and summaries.

If DEVONagent Pro terminates abnormally, the last used browser windows and tabs as well as the Archive window aren't reopened. This alleviates potential crashes caused by content in one of those windows.
Pop-ups that automatically opened and closed could crash the application. Fixed.
Localized values for some parameters in a plugin via the Plugins & Scanners panel weren't retained when closing the editing window. Fixed.
The Video scanner could slow the display of items in the Objects inspector of a browser window. Fixed.

Today's maintenance release brings three new plugins: Neeva, Caselaw, and IEEEXplore. Scripts and scanners, e.g., the Wallpaper scanner, now retrieve more image formats. In the DEVONagent Pro browser, the See Also inspector makes even better suggestions, and for RSS crawling you can use more feeds. For better search results, DEVONagent Pro handles filtering advertisements a bit more aggressively. And as always, we made fixes and again increased overall performance and reliability.
